The Tale of Baby Bear
Baby
Bear was sad. Mummy and Daddy Bear had to go and see Doctor Bear about
the birth of their new tiny bear. He wasn’t sure what was happening
at first. Then Mummy Bear explained that Nanny and Granddad bear would
be coming to take him on a little holiday. They would be staying in
a hotel. This frightened baby bear. Would he be able to sleep with
his teddy? Would the people be patient with him if he did something
wrong? Was it safe and secure for him – or might he get lost like
his friend Goldilocks did once? All these questions rattled around
in baby bears head and that night he couldn’t sleep. In the morning
Mummy bear made him his breakfast. He wasn’t very hungry "What’s
the matter?" she said gently. "I don’t know if I’ll be able
to have my favourite cereal at this ‘hotel’ he replied. "I’m
sure you will" said Mummy Bear. Nanny and Grandad Bear would
only take you to a hotel that puts little ones first. – And I’ve heard
they even have bedtime stories in the Cinderella Lounge!" "What
is that" baby bear said, his voice rising to a squeak! "It’s
a lovely room with seats and furniture designed around the story of
Cinderella – giant shoe silver slipper seats for the stories."
"That sounds like fun" replied Baby Bear. "Also, there
are play rooms and a ball pool where a kind lady called Mrs Sparkle
looks after you while you play in the mornings" added Mummy Bear.
"Oh how exciting" said Baby Bear. "You know Nanny and
Granddad bear would make it a very special holiday don’t you?"
"Yes, but I haven’t got a friend" said Baby Bear sadly.
"I am sure there will be other bears there, but why not ask Goldilocks
if she would like to go" said Mummy Bear wisely. Daddy Bear chipped
in "What a good idea, then you will know you have got a friend
to play with."
Baby Bear was very excited. He had arrived at Sparkles and guess
which room he and Goldilocks, Nanny and Grandad were in. "The
Teddy Bears Picnic Room." It was wonderful. Although normally
shy, Baby bear loved the larger than life Mrs Sparkle. Grandad bear
suggested he "phoned home". And do you now what he said
to Mummy and Daddy Bear?
"Mummy, Daddy, I love it here lots, can we all live here!"
